I've just realised that by connecting a network cable directly from the router to my pc upstairs that I can get 75mbps rather than the 55mbps I'm currently getting over the powerline adaptors.
With that in mind I'm planning on running a dedicated cable, my question is would it be a bad idea to get a cable that's long enough and chop the ends of to feed it through the holes rather than buying a reel of cable and probably using less than half of it?
