Anyone know of a half decent network (or poss usb HDD) divx player for not a lot of money? (up to £5/60ish if possible)

wmp11? tversity? there free, needs you to stream it from your pc on to your 360 or ps3.

you can softmod the Xbox 1 without even removing the case, takes all of 5 minutes with a genuine version of splinter cell, an xbox controller > usb cable and a usb pendrive. I've done 3 of them now and this allows XBMC to run properly.

my old boss swore by his xbox 1 based xbmc.

Said he couldnt find anything that did the job as well for the cost of them.

Hmm have got a 360/TVercity which is too noisey. Have an old xbox so i'll hae a look into xbmc

whats a "xbox controller > usb cable" ?

If anyone could email details on how it works etc i would be greatful as google isnt helping me

The ports on the front of the Xbox are actually just USB ports with a different connector on. The converter cable lets you plug a USB device with a normal plug into the Xbox

I have tried several options for Playing my DivX / mpeg files including:

Netgear Media Lounge
Xbox 360
Phillips DVP5960
and PC

I now have an original Xbox running XBMC and must say it is by far the most reliable method of playing media files, it just plays anything I can throw at it, doesn't appear to be fussy about format, bitrates etc.
