I have a few mapped network drives on my laptop, which connect to a server i have.

Why is it that when i click a network drive, I am always asked for a username and password.

When I set the drives up, i did select that usernames and passwords for the drives should be saved.

Thanks

what o/s is your server running?

if its a windows server platform then you will have to put in a username and password if you are not running a domain structure that the client is connected to.

it could be a windows firewall issue (or other firewall) that is blocking access to your server.

at any rate, using Administrator/(adminpass) will let you view the files on the network drives.

Hope this helps

I am guessing your workstation (laptop) is XP Home, and isnt remembering the passwords after every reboot. the trick round this little prolem is to have a user account on the server that exactly matches that on the laptop, i.e. same username and password. Thats what i've had to do on my GFs laptop.

Yep, it's only XP Pro that allows passwords to be saved. The above is a perfectly decent workaround for XP Home though.
