Right, got a network running here with a media centre PC and a few others, and I want to make some folders freely sharable with my housemates. However, when you try to connect to my PC, it asks for a username and password.
I have (I think) set up all the folders so they are read only for everyone, and only my account has full access, so is there a way to share them as such?
And I'd rather not just create a second account with no password to do this, there's got to be a proper way, doesn't there?

... Ok, that was easy, gold stars for both of you.

Next problem! I bought Eset Smart Security today, finally. Proper virus protection at last, as well as a firewall that isn't windows firewall!

But I can't for the life of my figure out how to set the firewall up. If I leave it on any setting, my PC doesn't appear in the network places on the media centre PC downstairs. Disabled it, and its there. In the 'change protection mode of your computer in the network' options, I've set it to 'allow sharing' to no avail. Any ideas?

I guess somewhere in the options there is a way to add your network to the trusted zones. Assuming it hasn't done that for you.
