My Wife has a Samsung Galaxy Ace (the original), still on Gingerbread, and with another 8 months to go on it's contract, which is getting progressively worse in it's stability and usability, but that's not the problem (not the main one anyhew).

Recently it's been using an inordinate amount of her data package (only 100mb from O2) on something called "Network Location Services" (I used 'My Data Manager') it seems to have used about 60% of her data package, and there seems to constantly be a 'Sync' type symbol in the in the notification bar.

I've turned off Farcebook sync, she doesn't use *******, the Google's Location services are off and I'm not sure what else to turn off (don't want to turn off Gmail or Yahoo Mail as she wouldn't get emails or Calendar updates).

Anyone else know what it could be!?, when I get my hands on her phone later I'll check 'Google Latitude' but I don't think that's ever been on (unless it got turned on with any of the last updates!).

I'm stummped as my Xperia Arc uses Ice Cream Sandwich and doesn't seem to have this problem! and the menu system is totally different.

Any Help would be great... Although we can't afford a replacement phone just yet!

Cheers
Sim :)

Turn off the "Use Sensor Aiding" under settings>location settings.

I think that is why the "Network Location Services" may be the biggest culprit! It does use a fair a bit of data if you are using the device as a sat nav and generally is not needed if you have a decent GPS.

Can't find that setting!..

I've turned absolutely everything off and it still seems to be syncing something...

Is it a Samsung thing? Or a Gingerbread thing? Cos my Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc running ICS 4.0.4 doesn't have this problem... No constant syncing, or 'Network Location' using any, let alone all my data!!
