Hi all,

Im currently looking for some packet capture / traffic monitoring for our DR connection in the office. We have the IT departments phones connected to it as you do but a few people are "taking the Michael". We only have a basic netgear router on this but want something to analyse the network traffic (in particular internet traffic) to see which people are spending all day on their phone!

Unfortunately the router doesn't support SNMP which would have helped.

Can you help with any easy solution? I may have imagined it but I seem to remember there is a device we could install between the router and the switch that would capture and break down all this info?

Cheers! :)

If you are on a router there is no way to monitor the traffic from WAN to wifi without having the facility on the router itself.

Alternative is to go wireless access point -> hub -> netgear and plug a PC with wireshark in on the hub as well or use a managed switch that does port mirroring instead of a hub.

Bit of a sledgehammer to crack a nut tho.
