how do i share a wall socket that is already sharing network in a building (halls of residence) to a wireless one?
i have a dlink router if it helps, or i need to buy something else?

I Dont totally understand how you have worded your question but I guess you have a network point in the wall & want to use wireless? If so then you will need a wireless access point.

there is a shared connection in a building
i dont have access to their modem or network apart from a port that shares network
i want to extend that network to a wireless but a router requires a modem afaik

any wireless cable router, which can operate without auth (although your network may still require you to log in - depending on the method it may or may not work)

cable routers don't have modems in, eg a wrt54g would do fine,

i have the D-Link DI-624 , do i go to the settings and change anything or i just connect it like i would with my cable modem?

Check your terms of service as well, most Uni's don't allow the connection of wireless devices to their ports.

Also if you have to log in via a web page which is also common then a normal access point will not work either.

There are ways around it with some devices like the little portable router that D-Link sell as you can connect using a PC with that one then switch it to wireless AP mode and it just maintains the link but seriously do check if your terms of service allow this.
