I have been trying to setup a network to my fathers pc so i can use his badass printer but cant work out how to connect.

I have setup networks before and normaly get thru it easily<edit, but for some reason, when i try to connect either through the router or through the adress bar. It doesnt connect

Thing is i can connect to my pc from my dads

i have changed the network name to the same on both pc's
tried disabling firewalls
tried changing aload of the router settings.

anyone have any suggestions? thanx

1.) Remove the swearing from your post

2.) Read the FAQ

3.) Open My Computer on your dads machine, go to tools then folder options

4.) Go to the view tab and take the tick out of the simple file sharing box

5.) Click ok

:)

Is this a network enabled printer or is it shared off of the other machine?
Have you enabled sharing?
Can you ping the printer (if it has an IP)
Can you connect to the other PC or see any file shares etc?

no i cant access his pc at all, but can access mine from his.

Its shared off his machine meaning the printer doesnt have its own ip

I have enabled share printer on his machine, and also changed the workgroup name to the same as mine

and i couldnt enable simple file sharing as it wasnt an option, I think its windows xp home

hmmm

yeah i did, on both systems

i cant get on his system at the mo cos he is using it. but sure it will ping my system as i can access my files from it.

and your father can access your pr0n too.

Out of curiosity why are you using IPv6?

Your internal IP range will not be accessible from the internet as it is a non-routable private address range<EDIT>Unless you set port forwarding</EDIT>
