Hi,

I have a hp 3200 downstairs, pluged into the home network via lan.

Im upstairs connected to the same lan.

I can view the printer in the devices connected to the network, and i believe ive sucessfully installed it.

I can see the printer in my printers folder,

when trying to print, the status on the printer window goes from printing, to "Printing - Error"

Is there something im missing ? It would seem everything is installed fine, even the online hp checker says everything is fine.

Thanks
Tom

Are you printing using a Standard TCP/IP port? That's what I do to avoid any problems. Add Printer > Networked > and add it manually that way. Ensure you aren't printing to a LPT port and use TCP/IP - it's much easier.

If he can see the printer on his network then he must be using the tcp/ip port otherwise it wouldn't show at all.

Have you installed the printer drivers or do you share the printer on a print server?

the printer is plugged into the wall , which leads to the router under the stairs which i connect too from my room.. (the whole house is networked and everything meets understairs to help anyone understand)

i can see the printer and everything. see its ip, bring up its webpage and view all its stats etc.

i have the printer drivers installed on my computer, this is whats bugging me, i cant see anything wrong with it.

do you get any other info with the printing error, i.e. popup in taskbar or event log ?

Are you using Vista or XP ?

im using vista, annoying i cant get any think more than just Printing - error.

i cant get an error code or a description of whats wrong
