Hi all just recently bought the HP C6380 Printer which has wireless capabilties.

The setup is this:

The multimedia PC in the front room is connected to it via USB which is what i want it to be, it also has the HP software installed on it as well to print photos etc since that is what computer is for in general.

It also supports ethernet and wireless. Ive got it connected to my network (using a DG834GT) via wireless and the signal strength is good.

In my bedroom is my gaming pc, thing is since its a gaming pc i dont want no messy HP software on it (only on the multimedia PC). What im trying to do is since the printer is connected to the network via wireless, is there anyway that i can just make a basic connection to the printer through the network via windows?

Ive tried adding a network printer via control panel but it just doesnt seem to find anything? I dont know if it has to be part of a workgroup or something?

Im sure theres a way of doing this though and can anyone help?

Thanks

got this printer too, couldn't find anyway to just install the driver and i didnt want all the hp crap on my rig.

had to do a custom install and un checked all the extra stuff.still puts rubbish on there but its cut down at least

either that or remote desktop to the media pc and print your stuff from there

Yeah i was thinking the same! Dont know why HP just let you install the drivers only!

I only need very basic printing on my gaming rig, for console commands for sourcemod.

Is there anyway fishlick to connect to this printer what so ever with out installing the crap?

Printers and faxes in control panel etc has this capabilty but it just doesnt find the printer even though its on the network?

Thanks ;)

tbh only spent 10mins trying to work it out, did the usual search on network but couldnt find it so installed the basic software.

if your media server is on 24/7 then you might be able to find the machine on the network and then right click- connect to printer. make sure it's shared on the media server first.
