Network Printers - Drivers issues

We have a new load of network printers for our company and our customers are having trouble connecting to these now.

Before they were able to just map the printer themselves but now this is saying that the drivers are not on the server that they are trying to connect to and would they like to install the drivers locally.

Could anyone suggest why this could be happening?

This is effecting mainly XP computers but now its effecting some W2k computers as well.

Thanks

Well something must have changed on the network ... have you put any new machines in or changed any security settings? Is there anything related to network security that you can think of that might have changed recently?

can you not install the drivers at the server end.

I know its probably slightly different, but i have my printer shared on my network, on a 64bit platform, so i go to the option to add additional drives, and add the 32bit one

Yeah the drivers semm to be in place. I did think that maybe it was the fact that the xp drivers hadnt been installed but started getting calls relating to W2K as well now. Can you put permissions on these?

you put permissions on these?

i know how do under windows, so don't know if this will help

go to the printer in question, right click, property's, security, then you can create groups like Trusted user and guest

then you can allow or deny the group to printers you want.

again, windows boy hear, but i believe you can do the same in sammba
