Network problem

Hi guys,

My friend and I are using Himachi to connecto teach other and play Football Manager 2008 on line, I can ping my friend's IP, but he cannot ping me.
At first I couldn't ping him but he just turned his Windows Firewall off and then it worked, unfortunately mine was not that simple and still won't let my mate connect to my PC.

I'm on Windows XP and have a Netgear DG834GT router.

What should I check?

Guessing it's your router blocking the ping requests. If it's possible I'd try and remove the router from the equation.

Not possible, I wouldn't even be on the net then..

Can I enable pinging on the router?

you could either use some sort of port forwarding or a DMZ for the ip of your machine on your network

Check to see if you are blocking ICMP on the router, or you might see a check box to make the external interface pingable...
