Network problems?

Hi,

I got my laptop this morning and trying to network it via my router. now Ive tried windows network set up and can get internet on my laptop but I cannot for the life of god get file sharing or printer sharing to it.
On my main pc it can see my laptop under "View workgroup computers" but I get an error.

anyone could help me please?

First of all lets clarify the operating system.

Win XP Home both with sp2 install.

Main pc has zone alarm firewall and antivirus.


also Ive noticed on my lapto I get a hand picture on local area network and says shared but on main pc I dont get any of that.Also I can find anywhere to activate it.

ok, could you post a screenshot of what the error is ?

It's probably Zone Alarm stoping the Laptop getting wins or maybe dhcp from the main pc.

Hi guys just got it to work.

In the end I was just mucking about with the network wizard and tried all different settings and also work group names until it asked me to restart both computers. And it seemed to have worked.
