Hi,

Trying to get this up and running but absolutely no luck at all on windows or mac.

I have mounted drives properly, installed the game, when i type ral.exe to run it loads a few lines then just fires me back to the C:\ prompt. Any ideas why this would be happening?

I have tried compatibility mode on Windows 7 x64 but no luck. Never used DOSBOX before but I must be missing something.

Anyone else got this game working?

It's on the supported list, so shouldn't be too hard.
We need the errors it's giving you to find out what's going on though.

are you referring to network q rally championship (1996) or the older (1993) version?

The reason i ask is because i've just tried the 1996 version and it works ok. I have no sound as i didn't configure it but the game works fine :)

edit: OK i've just tried the original 1993 version and i'm also getting dropped back to dos with a "general error" this is currently on a 32bit windows7 install on my netbook. I'll try it again tomorrow on my main PC which runs a 64bit win 7 install and report back to you :)

edit 2: sorry about all of the edits lol I've tried it again on my netbook and the game is now loading up from ral.exe i'll try it again tomorrow on my 64bit desktop

good morning!

Right ok i've set both versions up on my windows 7 64bit machine and they both work, the only issue i have is that the old version is incredibly slow BUT the newer version works full speed without a single hitch.

Are you running original copies of the game or "acquired" versions?

Thanks for that. It is the 1996 version that I'm trying to run. I have ripped the files from the original cd.

It installs fine, I can set up the sound config but when I type ral.exe it loads a few lines then goes back to the C: prompt. Very strange.

Where can I find the logs for errors?

I don't think it logs general errors like that :(

How do you have the sound configured? I've just set it up for me to use the sound blaster 16 for both midi and digital sound and it works OK.

It might be worth noting i acquired my copy elsewhere BUT i did have to install it as normal

I configured the sound exactly the same as that. Have tried on both mac and windows and no luck.

Maybe my install files are corrupted or something.

Maybe my install files are corrupted or something.

It might be worth re-installing the game within dosbox. Failing that then I'd recommend obtaining another copy :)

The main reason i say this is because years ago i tried installing "the crystal maze" into dosbox from the original CD but i was getting countless errors so i acquired it elsewhere and that worked. Kinda odd i know but hey at least i got to play my game :D

I'm glad you have got the game working :)

No i've not had in game music working :( I'm going to have a play around with the sound settings to see if that helps.
