Having some trouble with broadband setup and network at work. The modem is an adsl Thomson Thomson 585v8 router. We have been provided with a single public ip and it's non-nat.

Only way to connect to this router is to manually enter ip details on one computer, nothing else will connect to this router. Which seems to make having a router entirely pointless if we can only connect one device to it! Is there any way that this can be changed so that we can connect multiple devices?

Thanks

It's disabled by default by the isp, tried enabling it but didn't make a difference, router still wouldn't provide ip addresses.

get your username and password for it and reset to default settings?
Not sure how differently it is configured to the default.

Tried that but it just defaults to what it is already set to! And ISPs intructions say to connect to router you have to manually enter the ip details! Just seems a bit backwards!

Who said it is non NAT the ISP? Or does the router not allow you to do NAT'ing? I would find it very strange for a router not to allow NAT.

Without NAT you will only be able to connect with the one PC you configure the IP details with....

Sounds a little odd.

At the end of the day the ISP provides a single public address to the WAN side of your router, what you do the LAN side is down to you.

Who is the ISP?

That's what I thought, never came across anything like this before. It's business broadband with demon, probably would have helped if the boss asked me first before signing up!

Use the Thomson as a modem and connect it to a firewall/router with a WAN port.

I hope it's Demon's C&W LLU, if not, it will suck hard.
