Hi

I'm trying to find out the cheapest way of adding a networkable scanner for a community centre.

New ones are £600+ according to google which is out of their budget.

What's the easiest/cheapest way of adding a scanner that everyone can use.

All the pc's are connected to the same switch but they are not server managed.

Thanks

I've never seen a low cost networkable scanner.

Either buy somthing like a Canon Lide that's so small and light you can move it between computers easily.

Or have a look at networkable all in ones. My folks have an HP AIO, and the scanning function can be used via a network.

Not sure if this would work, but can you get one of those USB print server things and plug a scanner into instead of a printer? I've never used one so no idea how they work! Someone might be able to shot that idea down.

No. Wouldn't work

Surely just set up a small print/scan server and network all other computers to that? My dad runs an old P3 machine which is almost silent. There are a couple of printers and a scanner running off of that one which are all shared to the network :)
