I have my PS3 connected via wifi to my router and the PS3 has a static IP so it can be placed into the DMZ so I do not have to forward any ports. My PC connects to the router via 2 homeplugs. When I use IPconfig in the cmd screen I cannot ping the IP of my PS3, I am also unable to use upnp and share media. I have no software firewalls setup and because the PS3 is in the DMZ I should be able to find send it packets and receive them back but cannot. Can somebody help me out?

OK,

Details please:
IP/Subnet/Gateway IP's set on PS3.
Same for your main PC
Then IP of Router, and how you have set the DMZ up.

surely if you are using a DMZ you need a access list to allow traffic from the LAN to the DMZ and back otherwise there is no point of having a DMZ...

can you ping the PS3 from the router?
Did you run the connection test on the PS3?

Depends on the router - in some cases, DMZ just means the default IP to forward traffic that doesn't have a forwarding rule.

Ok here is the info required.
IP/Subnet/Gateway IP's set on PS3. 192.168.0.110 Sub 255.255.255.0 Not sure on gateway IP
PC IP 192.168.0.105 same subnet
Router IP 192.168.0.1 DMZ is applied in the router under DMZ, the IP assigned to DMZ is the PS3 IP.
My router is a DI 524 from D Link

How would I ping the ps3 from the router?
The connection test works fine except for upnp not working, I have a NAT2 connection.

Cheers for the info, sounds fine TBH, does the PS3 actually respond to pings does anyone know??

The PS3 will not respond to pings from my PC. If I need to take the PS3 out of the DMZ and just forward ports is there an easy way to forward lots of ports at once in the router?

Sorry what i meant is, is the PS3 actually programmed/meant to respond to pings? have you tried connecting to it some other way, or seeing if it works for gameplay?

I have been able to use it online, my main problem with it is when it comes to downloading updates it errors out and the download does not complete. The PS3 also signs out of the PSN a lot too when I am watching a movie.
