Hi, I have a small lan network for file sharing set up.
The thing is that my dad also shares files from his machines, we both each have a xp system and a windows 7 system, and I have configured them to use different workgroups, (I think mine is mshome and my dad's just home).

We don't need to be able to share across each others network although they all connect back to one router, which is fine in xp (other workgroups not listed) but in win 7 I can see my dad's machines and he can see mine.

Any idea how I can disable this or why its happening?

cheers :)

Just seeing the machine on the network doesn't necessarily mean you can access his files. If it is set up correctly, you'll just get access denied. Have you actually tried looking at the shares?

Right click on the folder, goto sharing then goto the permissions button (hopefully its the same under win7). Under there just add the specific users with access and then add "everyone" with no access (all unticked)
