Hey, I have my rig downstairs, modem upstairs.

I've used TP-Link 200 power line adaptors. they've worked well for 4 years but died.

Bought TP Link's newer adaptors at 500mbps, they kept dropping signal when playing .mkv files. I've requested a new pair of adaptors (Different model) but I'm not very confident as TP-Links forums seem plagued with complaints.

Can someone please recommend me a good Wifi Card or USB dongle.. or any type of networking solution which is cheapish but stable? Thank you. I have a Z87-K motherboard.

I agree - cabled gigabit networking should be standard for machines that aren't mobile. Too many things can interfere with wifi when you're streaming.

I wish I could but my bedroom is downstairs so running a wire for that kind of distance would be kinda crazy hard unless there are any practical solutions for that?

Hi,

My Router is downstairs and my PC is upstairs so just ran a cable from the router to the outside and back into my bedroom upstairs works great and the guy installing the cable made an excellent neat job.

Learning how to crimp cables is fun and makes laying cables in a lot easier than if they were already terminated.Plenty of how to crimp cat5/6 on youtube.

I go through the bottom of a window frame then seal the hole both sides with silicone sealer for a waterproof and draught proof finish.

You can get extra long drill bits a mm or 2 wider than your cable and job done, clip the cable to the wall outside or use a few blobs of clear silicone to help them stick.

Putting 2 runs in isn't a bad idea either,future proof a bit.

Maybe don't go for solid core cat6 cables if you want to terminate to a rj45 though as that can be problematic.
