I've just moved into a new house and have started looking at who to sign up with regard to cable. Now I know there are a lot of good offers about at the moment, with half price deals around etc, but a lot of the companies seem to give you a USB modem. Now when I was with telewest at Uni they gave us a proper ethernet modem so networking was not a problem, however how easy is it going to be with a USB modem? Basically there will be 3 computers sharing the connection, all wirelessly through some form of wireless router.

Is it possible to plug a router in to a USB modem at all?

If it isn't, what companies around these days give out ethernet cable modems?

well if you aren't getting cable from telewest, that leaves ntl. no one else does cable do they?

or did you mean adsl because your post sure doesn't look like that..... :p

Oops.....I didn't realise they were ADSL, I'm so STUPID!!!!!!!!!!

So if I get it from Bulldog I can use my US robtics wireless router, mmm.........

Question.

Telewest are already supplying us with our phone, does that mean that we are tied in with them to have cable with them or is it still going to be possible to get ADSL through them?

sort of. you can't get adsl without a bt line. of course to get a bt line will cost 11 quid odd per month line rental, so you might as well stick with telewest. :)

Bugger, that's what I thought.

The only problem with that is that to go with telewest means that I need to buy a new wireless router to plug into the modem, where as I have all the wireless stuff that I need if we were to get ADSL :(
