Hopefully this doesn't count as a medical thread since I'm not looking for treatment advice just others experience of the problem.

My question is whether anyone here had had a steroid injection for a neuroma in the foot and if so how long it took to feel an improvement?

Background is I've had foot pain for over a year and finally got in to see the foot doctor a month ago after various xrays and ultrasounds.

She diagnosed a mortons neuroma and gave a local anaesthetic injection to confirm. Last week I went back for a follow up injection comprised of steroids and local anaesthetic.

For the first few days I followed the path she described - worsening of the pain mainly. Since that point I've not felt a change and I'm trying to work out if something might still happen.

I have a follow up in a couple of weeks but am going on holiday first so really hoping things pick up.

Having had steroid injections in the past (but not for neuroma), I'd say it's likely won't notice any real change a months' time or so. Probably a good idea to give the consultant a call if you're worries.

These things aren't magic and take time to work. :)

I've had a Morton's Neuroma in my foot before.

The steroid injection did nothing at all. Think it was cortisone??

Got it surgically removed in the end and all has been fine since,

I would normally expect improvement between about 3 days and up to around 6 weeks. Mortons are normally quite nice injections to do and on the faster side to improve in my experience
