Never brag about how warm your house is . .

My feet are so cold, socks for the lose :(

Might aswell leave my 2 screens, TV, Pc and 5.1 surround system to generate some heat :o

I might play with my powerball to create some kind of fusion. Who knows the central heating might start working :\

Cpu temps have dropped by 4 degrees

Set your PC up to do some folding :)
I haven't used my radiator all winter thanks to folding. Not the most efficient method of heating but it certainly works. :p

Half expecting our heating to die over Christmas, i'm fairly sure its on its last legs.

That reminds me about a party that we once had in some flat that was cold as hell and there was only one heater there. We basically got the heater with us in the bed though it still wasnt helping that much...

I could imagine what it is in your situation though...our heating was kaputt during a cold week this spring and it was still a pain.

i use my computer to aid the central heating in my room. keeps it between 16 and 19 in this weather (based on a 30yr old thermometer 2 feet above my pillow).
i'm more concerned about work. I put on a extra shirt to keep me warm and i actually got colder quicker tonghiht :(

Pretty warm this winter. Last winter we didn't really have any heating system in here. Three electric baseboards and two portable electric heaters. With everything going full blast and at times the range on with the oven door open, it STILL was sitting at 7*C. The floor was even colder, it was actually below freezing.

This year we've got the outdoor woodburning furnace and it circulates hot water into the crawlspace. So the crawlspace sits at a comfy 32*C and the house is thermostatically controlled to stay at 23-24*C.

Biggest advantage is that last year our electric bills were $500 a month, I just recently got this month's bill in at under $100!! :D

My sister had a similar experience last year and amazingly an engineer came out on christmas eve and worked all day to get it fixed. That, ladies and gentlemen, is the difference between living in a close-knit village community where people look after each other, as opposed to a faceless, nameless town.

Royston Vasey?

I've come to fix your boiler DAVE.....

Quite warm down here in the south of France :p

Could be a lot colder when I go home tomorrow :(

I dont suppose yur boiler is made by Potterton is it?

Ive had my boiler nearly 6 years and its complete pot luck to if it works or not, brilliant when it does but terrible when not. Ive invested in heaters for almost every room in my house now in preparation for when it stops working again, despite spending hundreds on the damm thing!!!! Today it works but tomorrow .....who knows

Meh, I'm sitting watching Jonathon Ross in a pair of shorts and a rugby shirt. Toasty :D To be fair, I don't really feel the cold too much. Women are much worse. Our house is some old edwardian/victorian (I dunno) thing which is an arse to heat but the girls are constantly wrapped up wearing tonnes of layers whilst I'm happy in shorts

Last night I consumed so much alcohol that when I passed out half naked on my mates floor, I was toasty warm - even with the window open.

Here at home, my PCs and hifi amp keep me nice and warm :)

Hell, I could give you CAD drawings to take to someone to have the steel cut and welded so you could build your own a HELL of a lot cheaper!!

Only costs about $600-$700 in steel, about $200 in laser cutting, and about $100 in welding. Then about $100 in insulation and about $300 in siding and accesories (chimney, valves, pump, etc).

Then it's a matter of deciding if you want forced air heating, radiator, or in-floor radiant heating system. It will tie into all of the above. If you currently have a central boiler with radiators, it's the easiest to hook into.

Right now it's so hot I've got 3 bedroom windows open and it's -2.5 outside :D

I'm only wearing a thin tshirt too.
