....unless I'm training legs, that is.

I guess that this is a silly thing to ask, but if I don't get DOMS does that mean I've not worked as hard as I could? Or that my nutrition is tip-top and my body is able to recover rapidly?

Does everybody else get DOMS, after every session?

I often get DOMs - but I push myself hard every session, but I do very slow eccentric movements which does build up lactic acid more readily.

Not having DOMs isn't a sign of a bad work out though.

Well the idea is to keep getting DOMs as much or as long as possible-variety is the key to keep the body guessing (about rest and routines, grip, reps/sets etc that is). It is interesting however that the op claims to only get them with legs. wonder if this is due to the total amount of poundage being lifted or shifted: legs obviously handling more weight that any other body part. You do have to work them harder to notice any appreciable gains :D;)

It could be but as Freefaller has already said it doesn't necessarily have to be.

. Been doing the same routine for too long

The first being the least likely :) You don't need DOMS to show you have worked hard, but for me if I stop getting it for a week or two it means I have got used to my routine and need to mix it up.

What Dun says is right - vary your reps, and lifting style (i.e. change your tempo). You should change your routine every couple of months or so. It doesn't mean changing all the exercises every time, but maybe add a superset, change your tempo, change the volume, or weight - there are lots of things you can do to change your workout enough to create huge differences to your body.

I usually get DOMS, specifically in my uppder chest, lats, and hams. Usually gone within a day or two after some stretching.

Echo FF, not essential for a 'good session', just a sign to show that your body isn't used to the load/intensity it's been under.

I'm getting DOMS after every weights session at the moment, which is irritating because it hurts :p.

I'm squatting a lot more then I usually would though (doing a 5x5 routine), so I suppose it's just because I'm working harder then I'm used too: I'm also used to more cv based routines.

I love the feeling of DOMs!

They feel amazing :D

Everyone should love DOMs, along with pumps that feel like you'll tear your muscle. Hmmm :)

More like think kindly of rather than love-if you ask me. Doms stopped me from battering my legs again today so whilst I am happy that they are well and truely blasted, I am not happy that they are yet to recover sufficiently fast enough to enable another go :(

Tear muscle definately not-since that is what i and a few other have got at the moment :(

I only really get crippling DOMS when training legs. Some weeks it's non-existent (not often enough) or usually I can't walk right for 4 days without immense pain.

The work load remains the same, always done on a Friday, and I do my best to ensure my Diet is the same. I have yet to pin point any reason that would alter having DOMS or not. To be honest I don't think I will either.

I have found, however, if I stop training for a week the next week will kill me no matter what I do, back, chest or legs, it's Doms city for that week.
