Never Mind The Buzzcocks

I love the fact you complain about Amstel’s humour offending him with what is in your own words “pretty mild stuff”, and proclaim this is what’s wrong with British culture. Then proceed to call Amstel a “faggot” in your post, and admit that if you were in the audience you’d have shouted out what we can only presume would be abuse at the presenter.

Well said!

Preston was clearly in the huff right from the start and was determined to have a hissy fit. He got much less than a lot of people get, has he not seen the show before

I watched it earlier (missed it first time around), and he was pee'd off from the start. In his defense i get the feeling there was a lot more to it than what we saw. He still looked a bit silly though, obviously.

1) Its clear what you are letting yourself in for when going on NMTB.

2) His "wife" deserves all the ripping she gets, she is a pathetic z list star that deserves neither fame nor fortune.

NMTBK asside - I'm really not sure what his wife "deserves" at all. I certainly don't read tabloid papers or the tittle/tattle celeb mags but I don't get the impression that Chantelle is being forced into the public eye (or is seeking it) in anything like the way that Jade Goodey, for example was ( before her indescression). Maybe I'm wrong. Nevetheless, despite her not being the brightest spark, I don't see why the super smug presenter has any right to **** her off to her husbands face.

What would you do ?

Anyone else think it was funny how they mentioned Britney Spear's news is always changing and they made stuff up about a cake and a bird etc. Then in the days after it's first broadcast she shaves her head :D

Yeh, but when you look at the others, like that Towers of London retard and the guy from hollyoaks in the city, etc, he attacks directly, but in this one off he used Chantelle as cannon fodder, which is a bit unfair imo. Maybe she does deserve it, but Chantelle wasn't on the show.

I wouldn't marry such a person in the first place.

I'm the same as you I actively avoid all the zlist stories etc but i still catch a glimpse from time to time and from what i've seen she rides the fickle fascination with z list celebs many of the population have.

He did attack him directly at the start of the show and the bit where he was going through the list of songs on his band's new album that he didn't write and he looked really annoyed then too. The bit where he stormed off, IIRC, was the first time Chantelle was mentioned.

Even Donny Tourette could handle far worse than that.

When we have seen any TV shows being recorded, not a single one took less than 2 hours. There is so much more that goes on compared to what is broadcast. Therefore, it is extremely likely that there was a lot more ribbing before he walked, but surely his manager would have told him what the show was about, even if he hadn't seen the show before.

rumour has it he and his manager decided this outburst would be a way of making him appear be happily married - when he has been having trouble and been seeing his ex. so it is rumoured to be engineered

I can understand why Preston walked off in a way - though it might be a slightly old-fashioned view of things. He made himself fair game for the usual ribbing by going on the programme, and judging by the face like a smacked arse he's got in that clip he probably got more than ended up being broadcast, but to start on his wife - even if she happens to be a waste of space like Chantelle - is a bit out of order. I can see where ElvisFan is coming from with his comments, to be honest.

Mind you, there is something insufferably smug about Amstell in a "Tee-hee, aren't I clever?" kind of way that really gets my back up - it's a shame Preston didn't chin the little **** as he stormed off.

I kinda agree with this. Don't like Preston or Z listers at all. But tbh the show was as dull as ditchwater till that point. Amstell wasn't all that funny and it was getting boring him going on at preston and chantelle. its was funny the first 50 times etc. I think all the other guests were bored by Amstell and the material till that point. I think Ed Byrne was complaining how boring it was, ring me if I can't sleep etc. However after preston walked off the other guests and Bill Bailey especially seem to make a big effort to get the humour going. It got better after that. Perhaps because Amstell wasn't harping on at preston and chantelle.

I thought tonight's show was brilliant. It just seems to get better and better.

Agreed. I dont understand why there's a bit of a backlash against Simon Amstell. The guy is hilarious (i always thought he was funny when i caught Popworld or whatever it was he presented on T4

), and has doing nothing really that bad to anyone!

I'd be interested to know what Preston has been saying in all those interviews that Amstell was on about?

Yeah I thought tonight's episode was great too. Amstell is a good host imo. That guy from skins was abit of a waste of a seat though.
