Neverwinter Nights 2 Official Thread

I got this the other day and after a slightly slow start, I'm really starting to get into this. The problem is, I'm constantly thinking of other characters to try out - the possibilities are too many! I like the idea of the Warlock as a long range sort of sniper character after playing through the first area with one.

I've just reached Neverwinter at the moment, with my Paladin(3) Sorcerer(3). I intend to level up the rest with Sorcerer only. It's a nice combination as both classes utilise Charisma. Those 3 levels in Paladin give me immunity to fear and disease, add my Charisma bonus to saving throws, and give me Smite Evil and Lay On Hands (healing) feats which both use Charisma for effectiveness.

I've always liked monks though, so I may play through as one later if I can be bothered.

Seems to run fine on my system at 1280x1024, high textures, medium shadows, no FSAA. This is on a lowly Barton @ 2.0GHz with 1GB PC3200 and GF6800 Ultra. Towns can be sluggish though.

Moan Alert - Archers really are aweful in NWN2

I've got a Dex of 24, Str of 17 and he can't hit the broadside of a barn door  With a Dex value like that I expect to hit everything. And even though I've got a +2 bow with +3 Mighty, when I do hit it barely touches them.

Any tips? If it weren't my main char I'd drop his ass and get something useful!

Build a better main char, how far are you in the game?

Personally my main char is ALWAYS a generalist wizard... it makes the game 10x more interesting and opens up farrrrrr more strategic options. it's just so much fun to play with magic, and you always have NPC meatshields to back you up. :)

Rich.

Generalist Wizards are the way to go imo.

I classed to an Eldritch knight later on, but I can't gain any more levels in it after level 10. I'm not sure if this is due to the class, or maybe a restriction, given a certain decision that you make at the beginning of Act 3

I've just hit level 9.

Spell casters are extremely powerful - Qara can decimate groups in no time. I get my tank and my archer on the tougher charachters then wipe out the bunches of weaker ones with her Fireball. I think with 2 spellcasters and a tank you could absolutely walk this game.

Does anyone know if its possible (as a feat, or similar) to walk faster while in stealth? The Rogue NPC bird you pick up does awesome damage, but moving around in stealth is extremely slow...I know you only really have to stealth at the last minute, but it'd still be nice.

You possibly could, but mainly only because of the settings of the default difficulty level which means the bad guys don't get crits, attacks of opportunity and you are protected from friendly fire...

If you crank the difficulty level up, things become far more complicated....

Its true...if you know the PnP game you really can use fireball like you do in the game. Also for some reason you can cast about two fireballs for physical attack a tank makes (if he has only a single attack) which again is wrong. If you crank up the difficulty to D&D Hardcore the game would become much more difficult.

Cheers for that, haven't had a look at all the fixes but the the sword and shield binding is pretty cool.

The Drunken Flagon is great, love seeing Khelgar, Neeshka and Qara go at it, topped off with your uncle having a go at Khelgar for never paying for the ale :D Seems like there's a lot going on in Neverwinter as well, I can't go two minutes without someone harking on about taking someone out or trying to gain absolute control over an area of the city. I love it

By the way, anyone know if there's a way to attack innocents in this game? I do so want to give the merchant I paid off a nice present for getting the watch involved.
