Neverwinter Nights 2 Official Thread

Well it arrived last night and damn chosing a Char is tough I have gone for a Half-Orc Cleric as it seems unusual with the idea of becoming a WarPreist later on.

However still unsure, at the moment it me and a fighter standing outside the entrance to the swamp ruins.

Had a few problem with the camera tryig to stay zoomed out but if you do this vertical your views very limited. End up going for a high angle but then looking around can be a bit nausating as you contantly swinging the view about.

May restart as a Elf multiclass or a traight Mage. As stated before in years upon years of D&D and P CRPG never played a mage.

Had a few crashes in this during loading screen and one or two in combat sequences so hopefully the patch will sort them out. I'm running it at 1280x1024 with no shadows or water reflections as it improved performace doing that by quite a bit.

Overall though I'm really enjoying the game despite the (at times) annoying camera. Currently about 15th level with my Ranger and went the Harper Agent prestige class so not long to go assuming it finishes about 20th level. :)

Does anyone know if its possible (as a feat, or similar) to walk faster while in stealth? The Rogue NPC bird you pick up does awesome damage, but moving around in stealth is extremely slow...I know you only really have to stealth at the last minute, but it'd still be nice.

Swift and Silent: When in stealth mode, movement is 75% instead of 50%.

I believe that there is enough XP in there to get up to at least 23rd. The devs said that even ECL races (e.g drow and snirv) can make it up to 20th.

Fantastic, thanks.

One more thing...is there any way to turn of the 'auto level up' when an NPC isn't in your party?

I dropped Neeshka briefly to take on some other guy, but now I've levelled, and when I pick her back up she's auto-levelled to match mine. I'd rather the PC didn't pick the stupid feats/abilities that it always does and I'd like to make my own choices.

I mean, when I picked that bloke up originally he was level6, then *ping*, autolevel to 9!

I never get that.

The only time people are at a high level, and I haven't levelled them, is when it's the first time you pick them up.

As soon as they're available to your party (i.e. in the list you get when you leave the party areas (flagon etc.), they shouldn't level up without you doing it manually.

Well this game is too buggy to play...

I can't advance to act 2 because of something that happened ages ago while I was playing and hence the cut scene for act 2 doesn't trigger. I can't be bothered to play back through from the start to sort it out because I don't have a save game from before the part that messed everything up. It also seems like it is not just me this bug has happened to.. There are loads of people complaining about it.

I tried a series of console commands suggested on the Bioware forums to get me to act 2 but they didn't seem to do anything useful except clone Shandra..

Really bugs me when games are released before they are ready!

Is anyone playing an "Evil" character? How are you getting on with it? Playing 'evil' in BG2 was nigh on impossible...

Currently enjoying my "lawful good" Arcane Archer (6Ranger/1Sorc/6AA) but planning my next char already - thinking of trying out a Lawful Evil Assassin/Monk.

However in KOTOR, I found it difficult to play the Dark side as I instinctively did nice things for people :o :D So concerned I might struggle to level up the "Assassin" in me!

I'm playing a neutral evil character, I don't think I'm too evil though since none of my party members (all of which have good alignments) ever seem to complain when I do anything evil. Could just be that they're heartless gits though, they had no qualms about helping me burn down a building that still had people in it...

Playing lawful evil is always tricky, as the way the game OC is written, most of the lawful alignment stuff is also good in nature...

Chaotic evil is much easier with the way the campaign is written.

Problem is, you need to be Lawful for the Monk class, and Evil for the Assassin class. Which is why it could be a tricky combo, as its very 'specific' in its alignment...

Well finally getting roling on the game and enjoying it immensley have settled for a Half-Orc Cleric heading to become a Warpreist, have added Neeska and our Dwarven physco freind to the party. Currently potttering around the graveyard near the Fort.

Got so into adventuring away I forgot to go to the shops in the fort, I think I have approx 12 unidentifed magic items in my backpack :). Think its time to go to the store.

Considering hording items as between the dwarf and myself we should be able to carry A LOT while is work on my skill with the merchants.

Can you do trading with one of the other characters in party who is better at it?

And finally I kinda like my little misfit group a Half-Orc Cleric , a distinctly nuts Dwarf woth -ve Charisma and a Tiefling :)

Neeshka should have a decent amount of point in the Lore skill, stick unidentified items in her inventory and she might ID them :)
