I'll definitely be buying. I was hooked on NWN, but never played multiplayer or any of the expansions. Might try out multiplayer this time.

Ah man, NWN was superb.

I remember gaining the skill/spell to turn into a Black Dragon and engulf half the screen (was a bit crap to fight with, but soooo cooool).

If NWN 2 isn't awesome, I'll be disappointed.

I still want to see real 6-man party control though, none of this 3 person 'henchman' crap.

I honestly don't know why they don't just make a Baldurs Gate 3

Did the NWN OC ever get better? I played the first chapter and a tiny bit of the second chapter. I've played the first chapter multiple times over trying to get back into it, also played the two expansions (and completed them). Wondering, is it worth trying to complete the OC for NWN1 before NWN2 comes out?

I was absolutely hooked on the custom RP PW servers though :). Neverwintercrack.

I was dissapointed by the original. It was no where near as good as Baldurs Gate IMO.

Hopefully this one will be more what I was expecting back then.

What was the MP on NWN1 like? What exaclty did you do? Play other real people? I feel stupid for never trying it.

Yes, you could do a coop of the campaign with other people. But there were other things you could do. There was a good toolset for the game so some people would make servers. Some were just arena battles with other characters, some were dungeons that you could slash through as a group. Then there were my favorite servers, the roleplay servers. Some people would make a copy of a pen and paper module, that was usually when there was a DM and a group of people who knew each other though. It was like like a game of PnP but online. There were also persistant worlds, basically a free MMO. Some were normal, some were roleplaying. Most of the time I spent playing the online game was on a PW RP server.

Sounds pretty cool. I had a go with the Toolset once - made a load of ultra weapons then got them into the main campaign with a bit of trickery and jiggery pokery!

Scripting was way too complicated though - I didn't have the dedication to make my own module.

This was the common misconception with regards to NWN1, and why I think it was only warmly recieved by many people, when it deserved far higher praise.

People thought NWN was meant to be BG3, despite the developers saying many times that this was never the case - it was meant to be a multiplayer DM game, where people could easily create their own dungeons to play against friends.

The SP campaign was an afterthought, which I believe was meant to be corrected in the addons with a more substantial and satisfying campaign.

NWN2, however, is meant to be both. A great SP, with the excellent toolkit to please the DM's. Sounds "FG" to me :p

The expansions made it a lot better. Hordes of the Underdark was superb. I believe that the limited editions (LG/CE) of NWN2 come with NWN1 + all expansions.

True, HotU was a great game, but I don't see why the devs don't go back to a 6-player party system, with at least 20 party members to pick from throughout the game.

I didn't really feel myself caring for the 'party members'/henchmen in the NWN (and it's expansions) campaigns.

Having a 6-man party opened up the possibility for a truly epic experience, which I feel was missing from NWN.

I think they are re-introducing the party system, but I think its only 2 other party members and the lead character now? Still, at least its better than henchmen.
