Hi guys,
I’m looking to make a new main rig in the next 1-3 weeks and was after any advice and input anyone can offer. If there is anything missing or think there may be some issues please let me know.

As well as the above I will be using an Enermax Noisetaker 600W from my current rig link(hence the 8pin ATX connector at this PSU does not have one).

I cannot emphasise how much I need the pc to be quiet/silent as I am an absolute freak when it comes to noise. I don’t mind the fans spinning up a bit when gaming but when browsing/working/playing music I need it to be silent. The components have all been picked with that in mind and I believe the Akasa Venomous CPU cooler and XFX cooler throttle down when not in use.

Just one more thing to note is that I’ve chosen to F3s to run in raid0 as people seem to be getting amazing results with these plus I cannot really afford an SSD. I’ll probably make a post in the hard drive forum in a few days asking how to set it up as I really have not got a clue other than connecting the SATAs to the mobo.

Any advice/input is appreciated, thanks!

Fallen that is definitely a better build than i made. I did try to get the mobo/ram/gc/processor seperately but for some reason i could not find any i7 920s oem or retail in the processor section and just assumed they were only selling them in pre-builts and bundles now?? Where section did you pick your processor from, or am i just being plain stupid and blind. The thing missing from your build is the aftermarket CPU cooler as i wont settle for the i7 which will put it just above 1k, but still a better build than mine thanks!

As for the case fans i've got a couple of (38mm) 120mm Panaflo L1As in this case which i will transfer across to the new case if i find it running hot (it's why i've picked the rubber fins)

With regards to the PSU i've used my internet detective googling skills to find anybody using an enermax noisetaker 600w with a modern build and came across this:

Ignore the actual post but check the guys signature, i7 920 @4.1gHz and 2x5850! (with the exact PSU i've got). This is what made me take the gamble, if i find its having some issues later i will change it but for now i'm will willing to risk it, thanks for highlighting it though, i knew it could be an issue.

Edit - LOL Charlie go troll elsewhere

Spec looks good, but I would spend the extra for the 5850 but that's just me :p

PSU see how you fair with the Enermax, but I do see were the others are coming from.

I completely forgot about the heat sink my bad. to keep under 1k you could just use a the F3 1tb instead of going for 2 500 and then add soemhing like a titan.

I think i'm going to stay with the 2x 500gb F3s but use everything else you suggested. Where did you get the retail 920 from though i seriously can't find it as a standalone anywhere

Im not even sure how i found it the first time but I cant find it anymore sorry dude, looks like only 930 is left, and I wouldnt go for a 5850 you can overclock to 5870 speeds or close enough and after that theres only 5% differnce which isnt worth another 100£.

With a Titan and 930 it cost £1,055.46, If you cant strech that fair you could drop down to a AMD build, wont lose much performance in gaming.

Agh feared as much cheers mate, i thought you maybe had found a hidden stash in some random part of the shop. I guess i'll wait a couple of weeks until i'm all sorted to buy the system as there a few things i need to do before then. If i am lucky maybe some more 920s appear or the 930 price drops a bit but who knows.

But i think you are right; i will get more gaming performance from an AMD system with a 5850 instead of an i7 with a 5770/5830 and for less money too. Just really had my heart set on an i7 system and talked myself out of getting an AMD system with only 4gb even though there will not be much difference.

Thanks a lot for the help though!
