Hi people
Upgraded from 7970s in crossfire with the intention of buying a 4k monitor as soon as I've saved up.
So I'm currently playing at 1440p on a normal 60hz monitor and I have seen the expected increase across demanding games that I'd hoped however my most played game is now a stuttering mess! - Rocket league.
If I turn off gsync it runs around 240fps so it's not a performance issue but on or off I have a game ruining stutter that drops about 5fps but disrupts the whole flow of the game....it's like someone pressing pause then unpause every so often :(
After googling this issue I have tried:-
Running in performance mode in windows
Disabling speedstep in bios
Disabling Nvidia inspector
Disabling fraps
Changing Nvidia driver settings for multi displays
Capping fps in game at 59
Playing with steam friends offline.....
It was smooth as silk with my crossfire setup and a bit gutting tbh for the amount I paid.....
Any more things I can try??

If i get the time i could download rocket league and see how it behaves on my 1080ti using the latest drivers. Should be noted that im on windows 10 creators update.

Thanks for the replys chaps, I'm at work at the mo but will try that game mode setting when I get back.
I am also on Windows 10 with the creators update I believe.

I really don't know why you are getting stutter on your rig with a card like that....but stuttering is far worse than a lower framerate IMHO and really does screw up your enjoyment of a game. Smooth gameplay surely should be a higher priority than FPS, especially with high-end cards that will run 1440P @ over 60Hz with relative ease.

Hope you find the issue with your system and can get back to smoothness. Incidentally, is it just Rocket League that is stuttering or is it other games too?

Just played a match of rocket league and had no stuttering that i could notice.. fps would stay at around 230 the whole time with every setting maxed out at 3440x1440.

I've not had the card long so all I've done is benchmarks like heaven and valley and firestrike and the only games I'm playing at the moment are gta-5 and rocket league.
Scores seem about right compared to other peoples 1080ti scores and I have no stuttering in GTA.... but rocket league is my favourite game. :(

DDU the gpu drivers just incase you have an issue and re-install completely.

I too have had a similar issue with rocket league before and this fixed the issue.

Switching from AMD to Nvidia can have it's problems. Use DDU and clean AMD drivers in safe mode.

Also make sure v-sync is off in what ever game you play. In "Nvidia Control Panel" go to Manage 3D settings near bottom is vertical sync, Put that to "Fast" then save.

If you're changing teams you should do a reformat I feel. Those video drivers have seriously deep roots that cause all sorts of problems over time.

Use afterburner and monitor the graphs when you get a spike or stutter. On some of the graphs the limits are simply between 0 and 1 and can be down to where the GPU throttles due to heat/voltages etc. Benchmarking doesnt last for ages so can not show up throttling. As you had 7970's what CPU are you using? Check what the %ages of the CPU cores are also in afterburner to digard CPU bottlenecking.

I have drops in Ghost recon wildlands where it drops from ~60fps down to 20 fps. FAirly infrequently but noticeable. Mine is where one of the monitors hits a voltage or temp limit temporarily.

Ok so I got back and tried disabling game mode and I tried setting vsync to fast in Nvidia cp......still stuttering bad....
I will load up afterburner and check the graphs but GPU load is so low in rocket league sometimes the GPU fan doesn't even spin as temps are only around 50c.....
Haven't tried ddu yet but I remembered I did do this when I changed over from amd to Nvidia just not in safe mode.
My CPU is 3570k @4.4 but it's never given me any issues in games before?
Thanks for the tips chaps

It's not because Rocket league is such an lower powered game the GPU is randomly dropping to idle clocks during game play?

Have you tired DSR on 4K or higher if it allows?

DDU is the devil it causes more problems than it solves

thats why AMD & nvidia both have a uninstaller so use it. you dont need to reinstall windows or use DDU

To the OP
1.I would run AMD GPU uninstaller
2. reboot
2.reinstall nvidia drivers using Custom (clean install)
3. reboot
3. turn off Windows 10 Game mode
4. reboot
5 retry

btw what about your PSU what you running?

rocket league at 3440x1440 runs at 100fps but downclocks to 1200MHZ no struttering here

If I use gsync the core clock stays about 1500mhz and doesn't ramp up and down.
If I don't use gsync it stays at 1912mhz usually.
It was so bad a minute ago it was like watching a judderfest and bizarrely the fps never went below 180 lol.
I've been watching the afterburner graphs and nothing is obviously happening when the stutters occur.
