New 1440p monitor

After doing some reading, think am going give ultrawide a miss and just go 32" 1440p curved either 144mhz or 165mhz.

Keep getting drawn to this monitor
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/iiya...PJ1JAbESj5B4m16_bV7-sCBmoH3H_DXRoCedsQAvD_BwE

seems to get some decent reviews over on you tube and at £320 is just over my budget.

Also it'll allow me to use the ps5 at 1440p 120mhz although with no vrr.... but am used to using a 4k Hisense tv which I don't think has vrr anyway.

Read some reviews .

@EsaT knows his stuff but not seen him around for a while, kinda miss his witty replies.

It's VA, for gaming you want IPS.

Is still 27" 144MHZ IPS, still this expensive?

My Gigabyte Aorus AD27Q??? was £530 but that was nearly 4 years ago...damn.

This is a bit over budget, but this is what I'd be getting or soemthing similair.

As VA panel with the far highest contrast of LCDs that would be good, if you prefer darker room illumination.

After that it's downhill for VA compared to other LCD types...
Starting with almost every one of them having very slow dark shade starting transition response times compared to IPS or TN. Feature knowns as (VA) black smear.
It's almost as if achieving that highest contrast took breaking of other things with also significant viewing angle dependant gamma shift affecting dark shades and known as black crush.

In more normal room illumination limited contrast of IPS isn't issue, while being stronger than VA in other things.

Nice monitor. Even better when it was available for £250.

Ah right, ill have a look at ips panels then.

So, ips is the aim. Although that will prob mean no curved screen as most in the lower price bracket all seem VA.

Still, think 32" is my aim for screen size since I'll only be casual gaming on it.

Remember every time you go up a resolution you're eventually going to need more GPU grunt, 6750XT is a 1440p card really. So bear that in mind, you don't need a curved monitor on a limited budget. With your budget and GPU, I would be going 27" 144HZ IPS, you don't need beyond 144HZ either, it's just marketing BS any higher than that, you can't tell the difference.

Fair point, think am going grab the 6800xt now.

I've looked physically at 27" and 32" and personally don't think I could drop to a 27". I am used to using a 42" for my ps5. 27" just seems to small.

Yeah, I get that, once you go up you can't go back down in size. I didn't know you'd used something bigger.

6800XT should last you a good few years, you've got to get the right card for your resolution.

Is there a technical reason why most curved screens are VA panels ?
It's done by fat arse of marketing.
Both for fashion gimmicks for people who never had to suffer from bottle bottom geometry of cheap crap CRTs...
And for trying to hide VA's gamma shift by making dark shades on whole screen uniformly black crushed.

That seagull wing shape of 20% brightness shows how shades collapse from direct angle:
Leading to darkest shades being completely crushed to uniform black.

State of display tech development after CRTs is simply total POS.
Out of LCDs only IPS with A-TW polarizer should have gotten any R&D.

Tell me about it! Haha

I must admit that purchase was a knee buckler at the time, I think had I not won the panel lottery with it, Id have sent it back, but perfect screen and no DP's so I kept it.

Pretty sure someone said that MSI was available for £100 cheaper earlier? That's more like it.
If only they released another FW that allow us to change the brightness in sRGB mode!

I am still really interested in getting a curved monitor, so has anyone have any experience with this

Seems to get some pretty decent reviews from various sources with the only real downside is HDR, but am happy with that anyway.

I am lucky enough to have a spare room in the house that is a bit of a gaming room, so can have the room as dark/light as i want/need.
