Agreed, Adam Smith was a great man and probably deserves the accolade but there are way too many jocks represented all over the UK so we don't need another on an ENGLISH bank note.geeza said:great! my mates reply was what i felt
"why the **** do we want a scotsman on our notes they have a bank of their own"
I wonder which fool came up with this idea
How is it xenophobic? It is bizarre to have a foreign national on a banknote. I bet no other country does it.Tru said:LOL, who the hell cares whose picture is on the damn money? The Queens head is on every coin in the country. Got xenophobia?
Visage said:Which Englishmen who havent already been on a note would come before Adam Smith?

Edward 1st, but only on Scottish notes.Visage said:Which Englishmen who havent already been on a note would come before Adam Smith?
Any Englishman (or woman) is more worthy of being on the note than Smith is, because Smith isn't English. I really don't think that we have 'run out' of historical English figures so were forced to look north of the border.Visage said:You ssemed to suggest that there were more worthy Englishmen who should be on the note ahead of AS.....i was asking who they are.
Of course if thats not what you were suggesting then I apologise.

I take it you would you be happy with my suggestion of King Edward 1st, 'Longshanks' and Hammer of the Scots then?Vixen said:Some of your attitudes make me sick. It's BRITISH money, and Adam Smith was a BRITISH national. I think it's quite cool that someone from my home town is going to be printed on money.
