Agreed, Adam Smith was a great man and probably deserves the accolade but there are way too many jocks represented all over the UK so we don't need another on an ENGLISH bank note.

A Scot on an English bank note?

LOL, who the hell cares whose picture is on the damn money? The Queens head is on every coin in the country. Got xenophobia?

How is it xenophobic? It is bizarre to have a foreign national on a banknote. I bet no other country does it.

But that's what makes the UK so special, unique and better than the rest of the world.

 I don't understand the logic?

You ssemed to suggest that there were more worthy Englishmen who should be on the note ahead of AS.....i was asking who they are.

Of course if thats not what you were suggesting then I apologise.

Its a very sneaky way of introducing the Euro.

It looks more like a euro note then our current sent, its a bit plain.

Any Englishman (or woman) is more worthy of being on the note than Smith is, because Smith isn't English. I really don't think that we have 'run out' of historical English figures so were forced to look north of the border.

Some of your attitudes make me sick. It's BRITISH money, and Adam Smith was a BRITISH national. I think it's quite cool that someone from my home town is going to be printed on money :).

I take it you would you be happy with my suggestion of King Edward 1st, 'Longshanks' and Hammer of the Scots then?

It's Bank of England note though, I undertstand what you are saying that it is legal tender in Britain but the Bank of England and the Scottish banks produce seperate notes
