effectively it is! The BANK OF ENGLAND's notes are accepted throughout the UK and has control of the entire UK's Monetary supply/Interest rates.

England vs Scotland yadda yadda - only because it is called Bank of England doesn't mean it is not THE Bank of the United Kingdom. Forget the name, they have jurisdiction over most of the UK.

The Euro is the wrong move for the UK economy, not because of the physical currency itself.

The main thing that annoys me is the whole devolution movement. Its absolutely fine by me that NI, Scotland and Wales have their own governments that can dictate their own policy, but they should not be able to dictate English policy, nor should they sit in the English Houses of Parliament. Its either complete devolution or none imo (I'd prefer none).
 
And people wonder why the Scottish don't like the English....

It's ignorance like this thread which is why English people have a bad reputation internationally. And that's as a born Englishman living in Scotland. I'd rather be Scottish than English, and indeed do claim upon my parents Scottish heritage rather than my english by birth.

Scots who don't like The English are just as ignorant as the English that don't like the Scots. Please try to remember that not all English people are like this, in fact its a minority. If I went to Scotland I would hear just as much ignorance in Scotland.
