I'm in the market for a new IPS panel to replace my LG Ultragear 27GL83A-B 27-Inch QHD.

I do game a bit but mostly use the monitor for work - video editing/streaming and the like.

I'm not too up on current technology but I seem to remember when I was buying before that the LG listed above was highly sought after and regarded as one of the best for the price.

I think I'll stick to 27" although could go up to about a 32" if there's a cracking offer.

I recently got a MSI MAG 274QRF for under £200. You can still get them everywhere at that early BF price. IPS, 1440p, 180hz, KVM. I bought it as a second monitor but it's ridiculously good for that price.

Might pick one of these up as a second monitor myself.

Thanks!

If I was going up a little more in price is there a major upgrade around the £400-£500 mark?

4 to 500 you're about in
Mini led territory
Personally I wouldn't pay that much nowadays
For a 27 ips since you don't need the crazy high refresh rate ones
For your main usage
Mini led is Kind of a step between ips and oled
Though 500 might get you a 27 inch oled nowadays
But mini led doesn't have burn in worries
Or the text fringing you get with some oled panels

As a wildcard suggestion, I would consider adding a bit more to the budget and look at the ASUS ROG Swift OLED XG27AQDMG for £570, depending upon how much gaming you do.

But there is a caveat. Being OLED (WOLED) it comes with the downsides of not being optimal for work and text display (although WOLED is slightly better than QD-OLED), plus the possibibility of burn in but ASUS do cover that in their warranty.

Therefore this depends if your use case of work and gaming can justify the downsides. The upsides are gaming will blow you away over your current monitor.

Thanks for all the options.

Out of interest, is the MSI MAG 274QRF likely to be better than my current LG?

I'm looking to get a new one so my son can have the old one basically, but if it's not much better, maybe I'll reduce the budget and just let him have the new one.
