New 3700x overclock

Got a new build the other day, see spec below;
CPU: Ryzen 3700x
RAM: Team Group 8Pack Edition 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-28800C16 3600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Cooler: ASUS ROG Strix LC Performance AIO CPU Liquid Cooler - 360mm
Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER WindForce OC 3X 8G 8192MB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card
SSD: Patriot Viper VPN100 M.2 2280 PCIe 2TB SSD
Case: be quiet! Pure Base 500DX ARGB Midi Tower Case
PSU: Super Flower Leadex III 750W 80 PLUS Gold Modular Power Supply
HDD: WD Gold 4TB 3.5" 7200RPM 256MB Cache Datacenter Hard Drive

And after having a play around with overclocking a Ryzen for the 1st time I'm getting the following;

4.4Mhz on all cores at 1.332v, CPU idle temps are around low 30's degrees according to HWiNFO.

CPU-Z benchmark score of 5925.4

Cinebench R15 score of 2282 using (with a max temp of mid to high 60's)

I've tried pushing the CPU to 4.5Mhz, but it needs a lot more volts and the max temps hit low to mid 70's. Should I just stop where I am?

Having run the DRAM calculator, I've adjust the RAM timings and got a Cinebench R15 score of 2297 (up from 2282).

RAM timings before;
16, 16, 16, 16, 36
RAM timings after;
14, 14, 14, 14, 30

It would normally only boost to that on a few cores with heavy multi core workloads dropping to low 4s so being able to get 4.4 on all cores is a very good result.

Maybe I just struck abit lucky with the silicon lottery lol.

nice results that pretty much the same as my 3800x
think I got the vcore at 1.28v at 4.4 but wasn't avx2 stable and wouldn't do 4450/4500 at all no matter the vcore upto 1.38/1.4

How simple was this to achieve? just ratio and voltage or 101 other settings too? (My last overclocking was back on 9600k-9700k)

Was very, very simple to do (was just ratio and voltage, and hard setting the memory timings.) Far easier than the 2500k which was the last CPU I overclocked....which was years ago now lol.

Have been playing with the overclock further today. And have set the memory timings back to 16,16,16,16,36 and is wasn't as stable as I would like at 14, 14, 14, 14, 30. And have instead pushed the RTX 2070 Super GPU up to 2080 Super clock speeds..

Standard 2070 Super clocks for my card are;
Boost clock: 1785Mhz
Memory clock: 14000Mhz

Now running at 2080 Super clock speeds;
Boost clock: 1860Mhz
Memory clock: 15500Mhz

I do think that the GPU can be pushed further, but am more than happy with things at the moment as the overclocking on the CPU & GPU have resulted in a nice little perfomance boost and everything seems very stable....so far.

Certainly can't complain at getting 2080 Super performance out of a 2070 Super, especially when you take into account the cost difference between the two cards (£500 for my 2070 Super vs >£700 for a 2080 Super).

How's the PSU under load? super quiet?

I was about to ask if you had run Realbench on it but looking at the Asus website there hasn't been an update since January 2016. Has anything come along and replaced it?

No issues with the PSU at all, also the benefit of the Super Flower is that it has a switch to switch between 2 fan speeds or to turn the fan off altogether.

I'll have a dig around tomorrow and take a look at various benchmarking software for you

I have run the Unigine Heaven 4 benchmark this morning, after upping the GPU speeds from;

GPU Clock: 1680Mhz, Memory: 1938Mhz, Boost: 1860Mhz
to
GPU Clock: 1715Mhz, Memory: 1950Mhz, Boost: 1895Mhz

i get CB20 score of 5192 at 4.3Ghz and 1.28volts can do 4.4 not AVX stable like you but for the temperate difference i keep it at 4.3

what was your score at stock gpu speeds?

Is 1938Mhz stock for the gpu ram or is it 1750Mhz?
