Just purchased a Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 3870 XT 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GV-RX387512H-B) from Overclockers. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-020-GI

Anyway the card they sent me is totally different to the one on the pic. The one they sent is blue and has a Zalman Cooler and also it doesnt say that its a XT version anywhere on the box or my system also the Model Name is meant to be GV-RX387512H-B but on the box it only says GV-RX387512H.

Oh and the memory is meant to be 1800mhz but is only showing up as 950Mhz on the Catalyst Control Centre.

Has anyone else bought this card and had the same problem and what should i do? Im still waiting on a reply from Overclockers.

Sorry just found the answer for myself, Overclockers have sent me the wrong card.

Heres the link for the card they sent http://www.gigabyte.eu/Products/VGA/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2735

And the link for the card i purchased
http://www.gigabyte.eu/Products/VGA/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2709

Im away to call them now.

The overclockers web page states GDDR3, yet includes the GV-RX387512H-B nomenclature which is for the GDDR4 version. Theres been some mixup with the OcUK listing. Theres no difference between the performance of the cards, so i dont really see a problem, considering the good price of the card, unless you specifically wanted the cooler to vent outside the case though.

I had exactly the same situation but decided to keep this blue one with the zalman cooler. Seems pretty good anyway, not too loud, seems cool, and tbh I cant notice any difference between my 8800GT and this 3870 (going Xfire so sold GT), so I'm generally quite happy.

What speed is the memory showing up on your card because the blue one they sent me only shows up a mem speed of 950Mhz. Also with it being GDDR3 isnt the mem gna be a bit slower than GDDR4?

And one of the reasons i also wanted the -b version of the 3870 was for the cooler too.

Just a bit annoying when you expect something and it isnt right and dont think advertising a better model then sending an older model is right nyway. ((Im sure trading standards would have something to say)).

Its kinda like buying a Mars Bar then being handed a Snicker HAHAHA

Ive been a long time customer of overclockers and this is the first prob ive had so i cant really complain and im sure they will sort it out.

Cheers guys

Lots of people confuse the 2D settings when not gaming (it makes the card run cooler) for their normal 3D settings, which ramp up when gaming. Thats all it would be.

All 3870's are XT's, you can't get any others, and the memory at 950mhz is correct, as its DDR (Double Data Rate) so 950x2, and you actually have 1900mhz memory. :)
