why not just get a cheap 775 mb and c2d cpu and overclock it. should be able to do it for hundred poundish, plus it would be better than your amd system.

Well you won't get much for your motherboard given that its basically broken.
Your cpu should fetch you a decent amount (being a Skt 939 model) and your X1900xt should fetch you around the £60 - 70 mark judging by what cards have gone for recently on here (although some people think they can get more).

for some reaon i used an old email addresss thats no longer active well the mobo isnt exactly busted, i just gotta spend the time to see if i can get it to post with the card in slot 1 and hence at 16X thou as has been said the difference is not huge.
think myplan is to get 2 large ramsticks for slots 1 and 2 whci should solve the ram issue, then perhaps i can look into doing my first OC
