Got a new 3tb drive.

Booted into windows 7 64, drive manager, mounted new drive and then made a mbr. Spotted that it wasn't using the whole drive space but didnt think much of it.

Rebooted and now it won't boot up unless I unplug the drive.

Help!

I now read about GBT and other issues, how can I get it back alive and working? Ether full size or as two partitions?

It could be that the drive is faulty if it keeps disappearing how ever to use the full 3TB you need to enable GPT and you can then format it to use the full 3 TB (I did that on a recently purchased 3tb drive and it works fine)

It doesn't even go past bios drive recognition, wondering if the boards bios can't cope with the drive.. but that said it booted twice before that with the drive in.

If possible try different sata ports on the board, different cables as well, i'd be tempted to try every possible port. And if you can try it in another PC. Maybe try updating the bios on the motherboard to a newer version as well but if its booted a couple of times already then stopped i doubt it'll fix the issue.

After the above if it still doesn't work it could just be bad luck that its a duff drive.
