New 5090 Build Advice

I'd personally ditch the ram, get a 64GB 6000C30 kit if you want more than 32gb, but for general gaming 32gb is fine. I'd up the psu..seen plenty of reviews with gpu pulling very close to 600w..cpu, 9800X3d still uses more power than the 7800x3d and can pull upto 180..then you have fans etc...if everything is maxed, then you'll be pulling well over 800w...I'd just buy a psu where it's not running at >80% use....always went with rule of thumb run the psu at 50%, generally in it's most efficient spot and less stress on it so longer lifespan. a 1200W would be running at 66% or 1300 at 61%....yes and other times it wont be running max, so wont be up there...just my take

I'd look at this psu...available for £240 at mo (ocuk had it a £299) so do a search...
peak performance is between 300W and 700W..pretty perfect for a 5090 i think...does come with 2 600w inputs for the gpu, but as ou say, only need 1...at least might cover you for future upgrade

paired with a X3d CPU would dose he need 1500w i don't see why a 1000w would not be safe.
as said, 9800x3d can draw up to 180w (much more than the 7800x3d)...600w for the 5090...you're out of the most efficient part of the curve..and the psu i choose may be 1500, but it has excellent reviews comparable to power units that cost £400, and is only £20 more than the psu he has in his cart...and yes, just checked, it's on preorder here on ocuk and is £300 rather than the £240 i suggested he search for (and in stock )..
Seeing as op just dropped £2k on a gpu and £500 on a cpu, I don't think giving another option for the psu that is only £20 different to what he chose is so outrageous...isn't that the purpose of this forum...he's asking for views, I'm giving mine.
i agree, 1000w will do, i have 1000w psu and i i had a 5090 I'd plug it in, but if buying fresh now knowing the psu pulls 600w, I'd get something a bit beefier..min 1200w, but just so happens i know the 1500w psu is £240 elsewhere and cheaper than some 1200 w psu's, so why not

below another review..as said relative performance, seasonic TX1600 just pips it, and that's a £470 psu, the dark power pro 1600 w doesn't beat it, and that's £350, so for £240, i think you're getting a bit of a bargain

how long would it take a £90 psu running out side the efficient part of the curve to use an additional £380 worth of power

if he runs the system for 15hr a week and 5hr are at full load(that will really never happen)... 10's of years thats how long

where'd you get £380 from...the psu he chose is £220, the one 1 suggested is £240...could just suggest the tuf 1000W..think that's £139...but he's buying some top end parts..just suggesting a top end psu at reasonable price...and yes, i prefer running a psu in easy mode so to speak..my rm1000x peak efficiency is at 300w...just because it's labelled a 1000W psu, doesn't mean your meant to run it at 1000W (it def prob wouldn't last 10yrs at that rate)...or in the 1500W variant of the c1500, it's not supposed to run at that level..it just has the capability that's all..otherwise no one would make psu's over 1000w...might as well bin the lot of them seeing as no gpu actually need that...but plenty of people buy them

from there, minus the cost of a 1000w psu. do you want to call it £350 and not £380
the psu would have to run out of the peak for years on end to reclaim not even half over what the standard cost would be just to run the 1000w

this is what people dont take into account buy buying a super expensive PSU it will be in the bin before its paid you back in efficiency, unless you mining

ahh ok, got it...yeah, but i wasn't suggesting getting a £470 psu..the C1500 is £240...just in that last review they say the quality is up there with the seasonic etc, which are all way more expensive..
then again, reading the 5000 thread, plenty people seem to be picking up 5090's at £2700 odd...the asus astral at £3300 and sold...my mind boggles at that... I wanted a 5080 to replace my 3070ti...can just about stomach at fe at £979, but even the asus prime, ventus and super solid, the basic aib cards which are meant to be rrp are £1200+.. and plenty up at 4090 level £1600.....my wallet firmly shut...crazy prices ...they aren't any faster than the FE, so why bother

the C1500 is £240
so yer obviously if there the same price go bigger unless it as a silly small warranty, they only do that on budget crap... and for a reson
