Hi,

My new chip should arrive this afternoon.
I am on Windows 11, can I just remove my old 3700X and seat the new chip = without doing a fresh install?
Could I just reset all Windows settings and will it work ok?

Thanks

It should be okay; however, I will go against the grain and suggest that you clean install Windows at a convenient time rather than keep your old build for a long period of time. No hurry, but it is good practice to do it whenever changing big components such as the CPU or Motherboard. Install the latest Chipset drivers too, released recently.

Thanks all.
New CPU in more or less hassle free.
Cooling via an Alphacool 360AIO - was a bit tricky getting it seated, the back plate had moved slightly when I removed the 3700X and scared me slightly with a loud click as it dropped back into place as I was tightening the screws....thought I had damaged something at first but all is well :)

I have reset the bios, are there any particular settings that I need to tweak to release the full power of this chip?

Make sure PBO is on and that's it for now IMO.

In terms of BIOS, tweak your memory frequency for the highest possible, using the lowest latency timings. No other hardware changes necessary.

From the software side, follow this advice but try with -30 all core first. Then drop down by increments of 5 on all cores until you have stability.

Once you find stability, you can call it a day or fine tune each core for more voltage reduction. Generally, less voltage = higher clock speed with lower temps but with more chance of instability.

Bit of a strange one with PBO2 as I am struggling to get it to load the -30 on startup.
Windows 11 - PBO2 is listed in startup - I have added in the -30 x8 times
I have triple checked everything and all looks set up ok.
Any ideas = could it be something in W11 stopping it?

You'll have to use the command line version.

Sorry, I don't quite follow?
I am not trying to use task scheduler.
I have created a shortcut and have added the -30 (8 times) at the end of the target line path.
Still does not work?
