New 6700xt not posting...

When you say your 6700 didn't like a daisy chain - did it post at all? I'm getting nothing.

No, not even fan spin - luckily i've two rigs in the same room, so swapped over the 6800 to that rig and the 6700XT into my main one and everything worked

I'm aware of the NZXT riser recall. I've been in contact with them and am dealing with that earlier this year. Cheers all. Fingers crossed.

That's good stuff. Aside from the obvious safety concerns, the new riser looks of excellent quality so would also likely not be the cause of any issues.

But you have that in hand, which is good.

I had a problem with mine aswell, same Powercolor Fighter 6700XT you had. Mine wouldn't power on at all, all that would happen is the psu would click as I pressed the button and the board wouldn't ever seem to get power at all, presumably something is wrong with the power section on the card and it's tripping the protection circuit on the psu, I tried it in two different machines and the same result with both. Both are modern systems, one Z490 and the other B450 bot have good quality psu, ones an Antec HCG 750w and the other an Evga Supernova 650w.

It's back with OcUK now and is in the queue to be tested and then replaced. Not sure what the replacement status will actually be yet though, OcUK didn't seem to want to promise me anything.

So been 3 1/2 months trying to get a gpu and finally got one - Gibbos voucher 6700xt.
And I can't get it to work (no post, no bios screen, hdmi nor dp).

- I have a 970gtx that works fine, already retested 3 times with each card.
- I previously had a red devil 5700xt that used a 8pin and 6pin same as this card and the 5700xt worked fine.
- I have a ax850 gold corsair psu.

Tried different pcie cables (didn't help).

Any other ideas.

As far as I know.

DEREK from AMD suggest to use a different displayport cable or a VESA certified Displayport 1.2 or else the gpu won't post.

Or try hdmi which should post.

this might sound weird, can you hear it booting into windows despite not showing anything? I had a similar issue on my 6800XT but was able to resolve it by taking the battery out the pc, leave it for a couple of minutes and put it back in.

Installed mine today, no issues so far.

As others have said, using 2x 8 pin cables (although this card only needs 1x 8pin and 1x 6pin - despite the spec sheet!).

I did initially have an issue posting, but just moved the Display Port cable into a different port on the card and it worked. Switched it back later and all is fine. Could just be a coincidence rather than a fix :D

Are you running two monitors or screens? Maybe try with just one first.

will be putting mine in later today

but the display port problem happened to my rx5700 after the last driver update something to do with the monitor going to sleep

hmmm well I sent it back and getting a new one maybe today ... I know the card felt warm so there was power getting to the card; I dont know if it was booting into windows - I couldnt tell. None of the ports showed any picture with anything ie bios or boot screen let alone windows. Didnt try the battery thing - lets hope the new one works.

Just to be clear, I gather the people who have been able to resolve problems with bios updates or by setting the PCI-E gen manually and using different cables etc have all had cards that actually did power on, but had no display output. So it wasn't a case of the system flat-out not powering on at all such as mine did ?

Also when I say power on, I mean the whole system not just the card itself, as in the presence of the 6700XT in the PCI-E slot stopped the system powering on at all, it was triggering the PSU fault protection I would say from the little click it would give after the power button was pressed.

My old 5700 did have black screen issues but I think it was a driver problem because I noticed it much less when they started updating the drivers and acknowledging the problem ... but this was errr 4 months ago~

ya not sure my system didnt power on either ... I dont think doing the pci-e gen 3 would do anything unless like it was mentioned for a riser cable but thats specific to that.

What have OcUK said to you about a replacement then and did they give you any time frames ? They received mine back yesterday and should be testing it 'soonTM'.

that was last year the black screens until they sorted out the drivers

this was in the last screen went to sleep and the only way to get it back is to shutdown and change port on the gpu

but solved that by turning sleep off for now

weirdly my old gtx560 used to do the same thing years ago so windows will be the cause

I dont know anything yet, thought I might be getting a replacement today but not sure. I know when I talked to them previously I think the replacement would be out soon from what I gathered. Hopefully you will get a new one back soon and it works.

You mention trying different PCIe cables in your posts... ONLY use the ones that came with your PSU! Pinouts vary- I've had a system 'play dead' before because I used some fancy braided PCIe cables from another PSU. Just nothing, like the power wasn't on at the wall.

EDIT not OP, sorry! But point stands...

No, I didn't say that, I just said different cables, I did not specify which cables, what I actually used were different displayport cables, not different PCI-E power cables, I have actually never used aftermarket PSU cables.

Edit: Sorry on rereading that I think I may have come over as a bit harsh, I'm just really easy to annoy right now, not your fault, you're right anyway. I work in IT Infrastructure and the support desk where I work have managed to annoy me more than once already this morning by not actually reading exactly what I have said but thinking they know what I am saying and paraphrasing me and leaving out important points or trying to summarise and missing the point entirely, but hey without them I would have to talk to people I don't want to so I'm still glad they are there.
