Bought the 'HIS HD 7950 IceQ BOOST 3072MB' yesterday from Ocuk.http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-065-HS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1673

I didn't reinstall windows (will this weekend) but I did fully remove all AMD drivers, including registry entries etc.

PC boots, windows starts, then just before the login screen appears I get a black screen.

Tried rebooting, running in safemode, works fine.

I later discovered that if I toggle my monitor's inputs from DVI to HDMI and back a few times, the display resolves itself and all is well.

Not a huge problem, since I can fix it, but still annoying and not working as it should.

Anyone else have similar issues? I'll reinstall windows this weekend to see if thats the problem.

Thanks!

Thanks for the replies.

Motherboard is a Asus P6T Deluxe (v1), im on the latest bios '2010.11.09 update'.

So, due to my motherboard's age, doesn't look like its equipped to deal with a 7950 properly?

I can live with the problem until I upgrade to Haswell, its just a little annoying to have to swap inputs a few times, until the blackscreen/artifacts stop.

I cant see why it should be your motherboard if its what your sig says it is. Sound more like a dodgy install of software.

You could try , if you still have the AMD folder in the root of your C: drive, to uninstall the gfx through the Device manager (leaving all the other amd software intact), reboot and then install the display driver again through the device manager. I had to do that a few times when i was testing hybrid PhysX on Win8.

Update: Card now artifacts with rapid blue artifact lines on my windows desktop, whenever I start my PC up.

All I have to do is swap to HDMI and then back to DVI, and all the artifacts go away, until I shutdown/restart again.

Have to say, this really is confusing me, I've had faulty GPU's previously, but never one where I can 'cure' the artifacts by swapping monitor inputs for a moment.

I'm tempted to RMA it, but worried that ocuk would not experience these artifacts.
Temped to wait until I upgrade to Haswell soon, then test again.

I should be able to RMA it anytime during it's 2 year warranty, right?

My new 7970 is doing the exact same thing but when i lower the screen resolution the put it back the artifacts go away, i've tried all sorts of different bios settings and its still the same.

Im going to ring Overclockers tomorrow to RMA it.

Am i right in thinking if im not completely satisfied i can get my money back?

Ok an update i RMA'd mt 7970 and got a replacement and it works perfectly now so if i were you Dave i would RMA.
