I'm currently spending my work experience in a software company, and they have asked me to research a new colour printer which includes a flatbed scanner. They didn't specify whether they wanted a laser / inkjet, so it would be appreciated if there were suggestions for both.

Basically looking for a relatively cheap printer, with good quality and cheap ink (if laser is the way to go for price, then please say)

Cheers!

My Dad and I both bought Epson RX620's last year and can highly recommend them. Replacement compatible ink again very cheap :)

Goot :)

Don't buy the cheapest printer. The more money you can spend, the better. Ideally with separate ink tanks instead of those combined "all in one" jobs which are an expensive waste.

Brother, Canon, HP, Epson are all worth a look.

Try and get your hands on a few different models - and you will see the superior build of a £250 model over the cheapo £50 model. (Walk into a high street store and have a look, but buy online for price)

You need something hardwaring for an office. :)

It's only a small business (~8 people), otherwise I'd definitely suggest a decent laser printer. They didn't specify a price range, but if getting an expensive printer will save in the long run, that's definitely an option.

Thanks for the ideas so far ;)

One of my clients went out and bought a £50 printer for his casting agency business. Ink replacement costs £40. And the printer is so cheap, it keeps breaking on him. He is on his fourth within a year.... and that doesn't include the £70 costs of engineers that have been needed to "repair" the broken printers.

And this guy still thinks he is saving money by buying a cheap printer.... some people never learn.

I got an Epson RX640 which I have had a couple of weeks. It's really easy to use and does good scans and prints.

The ink is cheap as you can just replace the ones you are low on.

What ever you do, don't buy the cheapo Lexmark All-In-One printers like I did.
Total waste of money. On my 3rd one already. Only because its cheaper to buy a new printer than buying the ink cartridges separately. Like others have said, go for Canon, Brother or Epson printers.
