New AMD CPUs Announced - It's getting as confusing as Intel.

Yeah read that and was surprised, because the 7700K & 7740X were the last Intel CPUs were the Ring run at the same speed with the core, hence single core perf of the 7700K/7740X at 5Ghz was always much better than anything intel had at 5Ghz even the 9900K/KS.

Also to drop something else, the 9900K has 500-509 single core perf with 3200C14 ram (similar to 3700X, 3800X and less than 3900X/3950X) we do not know what sort of ram used on the 3300X.

AMD's CPU's are a lot like GPU's, chip-set drivers are like GPU drivers..... a few generations of chip-set drivers ago i gained about 10 points in ST cinebench r20 going from one driver to the next, yes this was a definite performance up lift.

Edit: same up lift in CPU-Z.

Yeah, I saw that on the 3900X. +13 points on single core with the last chipset at same clock speeds.
God knows how much tweaking through chipset (microcode) updates can get the Zen 3 by tripling the size. I won't be surprised if that affects also Zen 2 CPUs but wasn't deems important.

3300X is quicker than a 7700K...... i bet that stings a little to 7700K owners
As owner of OG 6700K not feeling the sting in slightest. It has served me well, will be 5 years in August. Its sad there has been so little progress. Hopes for Zen3

PS Is that low single core result on 7700K normal? I'd expect it to be closer to 500

They should release a cherry picked version of the CPU's, for example, 3700x FAF, fast as, well you get the drift.

Rumour is these don't have an IO die, in fact the 3300X is apparently a single CCX.

I think these are Renoir, (Ryzen mobile) salvage. Which with out an IO die or in the case of the 3300X no CCX's could be interesting, it would mean they have none of that latency that Desktop Ryzen 3000 have.

How will this impact performance?

These have more L3 cache,so are probably not Renoir.
