New AMD price cuts

There some impressive prices amazingly cheap, might get me m8's AM2 mobo he has spare and build a cheap 2nd pc with it.

it faster than a 6400 and has the same performance of a 6600
but a 6400 can easily reach 3.0ghz then amd is really slow

What about machines where we're not overclocking like in SFF desktops?

Still quicker and use less power.

If you have the money for Conroe there is no reason not to buy atm really :(

AMD are really getting shot up atm

if your not overclocking there very even price vs. price wise, for example the 4200+ and the E6300 are pretty even when niether are overclocked

If you are not gonna overclock at all and you are buying within the next 10 days then AMD is a solid choice, be browsing the wibbly wobbly web and you can pick up an AMD X2 5600+ (Retail) for £1, yes £1 less than the current cost of the lowest price E6300 I can find.

You be mad no to consider it, and as far as Joe Bloggs in the street is concerned who has no wish or clue about OC'ing then this is fantastic news. When Intel prices drop in 7-10 days then maybe the AMD route may still seem of little value however.

Really thats what i thought pc's where invented for :)

the price thing thou dont forget as someone mentioned in another thread i think it was in ere somewhere ie by the time the government stick all the taxes on it etc on it you wont really see as much of a decrease as they have stated oh the joys of the uk

I sometimes overclock my hardware just to see what it can do but generally I don't keep the overclock running on my systems as I prefer them quiet and stable (I had a few issues with Source games when doing any overclocking in the past). I take it the E6300 still outperforms the 4200+ then even when not taking overclocking into consideration?

I knew there was a start of a price war coming in but I didn't know it was so quick so I think I'll wait and see what the Intel cuts are like.

some people dont overclock for a lot of reasons.... money being one... for the best cooling you could get a better chip to start with

If you look hard enough you can get a 5600+ for the same price as an E6300 which is a 2.8GHz 2x1MB Cache CPU so if you ain't OC'ing then it will rule.
