No idea where to put this

When I try to install windows XP I have to press F6 to specify additional drivers due to it running on a RAID 0 array. The drivers load from the floppy disk ok and windows continues to install. Then thirty seconds later it gives an error message stating it can't find the driver I need.

Setup then stops and then I have to reboot - I can't get further than this :(.

I have tried using more than one floppy disc and the same problem keeps coming up again and again. Does anybody have any suggestions please?

Asus M3A32 MVP Deluxe, 4GB Geil DDR2 6400, AMD AM2 6000+ etc.

You might have already tried this but have you downloaded all the Raid drivers for that motherboard (and redownloaded a new copy if necessary)? I did have that ages ago when I was using a Raid array and it was because it wasn't quite the correct driver - Windows decided to proceed but so far and then realised the mistake when it promptly flaked out.

Hmmm the problem is that the only floppy drive in the house is attached to my computer. I can download the newer drivers onto my laptop but there's no floppy bay on it :(

There is a function in the CD Asus packed with the motherboard. It's bootable so I can stick the drivers onto a floppy within dos (I think) after posting occurs. I copied all the drivers across for XP32 but this problem arises :(

Is raid switched on in BIOS ?

When you loaded the driver from floppy did you choose BOTH.

ie: you pressed S and it loaded ... Did you press S again and load the other controller too ?

Hi,

Raid is switched on in the bios, I have tried pressing "S" to load additional drivers and tried selecting the same one again. It then gave me an option to use the one on the floppy disk or (bizarrely enough) use the one already "in windows". I have tried both options (i.e. running setup twice) yet the same problem occurs.

Install a version of XP with SP2 pre-installed.. I believe these come with sata/raid drivers you can use to install windows, then you can install the correct ones once windows is installed.

My version of XP has SP2 preinstalled, the trouble is if I don't specify additional drivers ("S"), then I get a nasty BSOD :/

Want me to run it like this so I can write out what the error is? I'm not sure if it will help though.

Don't select the same driver from the floppy. Select the next driver.

There should be TWO drivers on the floppy.
Press "S" to load the first one.. The Press "S" again to load the other one... When they are loaded ( Your'll see both selected on your scree) press enter to continue with install.

There are two there - but one is x86 and the other is x64, I was trying to install xp32.

I gave up in the end, I tried installing Vista and for some reason it's not finding the driver files at all - whichever medium I load them onto, i.e. floppy or USB drive.

I am currently now trying to install Vista 64 onto using the other controller this idiotic motherboard offers, ones by Maxell.

It seems to install fine on the RAID 0 array (2x WD Raptors), though it did give me the unsigned driver warning. It then reboots and automatically hits a "windows didn't load up correctly" error message. Then whichever boot option I choose I get a BSOD which lasts for a microsecond and then reboots.

Urgh, formatted and am currently trying again.

The thing is though I have installed both OS' onto one Raptor with no problems whatsoever. Somethings totally borked with the RAID drivers offered for this board (I think?).
