new apple tv, does it support streaming?

say i have a movie encoded as .m4v, its on my server which is running bonjour, will apple TV be able to see this and play it? id like to know as i have an urge to go spend £99 on the new one, or £142 on the old one and get a broadcom HD card

It has to come from an iTunes library. The file can be, physically, anywhere that your iTunes library can see it, but the PC/Mac running iTunes must be on, awake, and running iTunes.
