new ASUS drivers

blimey i thought the asus guys had fallen in to a coma or fell off a cliff or something. well spotted, ill try these later.

edit: just looking at the zip file, its a lot more open than the current drivers. looks like we'll be able to skin the interface

Well they showing here (grr can't link it exact) as 2008/07/03 update so god knows why it's taken so long for them to appear.
Lot of pressure on the forums esp over the low mic.

Ah bugger, only just got my card today and installed it... will look into these new drivers only once the changelog appears, see if it's worth the bother.

Methinks I'll give these a miss judging by the complaints of BSOD's and lack of anything actually being fixed/updated :o

Yeah... I think it would probably be wise to give the new set a miss, unless you're already having some noticeable issues with the previous driver package. Luckily for me, I've not run into any problems as yet (although I hear there are issues with DS3D GX, but this doesn't affect the couple of games I play so doesn't concern me).

just installed the new drivers today,I haven't had much chance to test them yet,my main reason for updating is due to a couple of my games refusing to run in 5.1 on Vista 32bit,most notably Ataris recent Alone In The Dark, which refuses to load if 5.1 is enabled within the Xonar control panel, have tested this and it's still not fixed unfortuately!

I'll test further later on when home from work and post if any noticable improvements or new problems are apparent.

By the way is anyone else having similar problems with Alone The Dark on the Xonar and Vista? I'm using the D2X version of the card.

I feel bad for posting that link now as not one person has got a good thing to say about these drivers :(
Biggest compliant over there used to be lack of mic volume, and no one is saying whether thats fixed or not....or was they like me and sat on the fence over buying this card until someone says the mic is loud enough to use!

Works fine for me under Vista 32bit. I disable all sound settings in the Xonar control panel though as I prefer the sound to be outputted in a pure form via Optical which in AITD is ok but nothing special.

Bioshock on the other hand now the sound in that via the Xonar is very special!

Nothing enabled in the Xonar control panel here either, works fine in 2 channel but with 5.1 enabled game crashes at startup,I've found a work around of sorts though by enabling dolby digital live in xonar cp but leaving 2 channel enabled,I'm getting surround sound this way!

I haven't tried Bioshock on the Xonar, played it last year on my old audigy 2ZS and haven't felt the desire to replay it yet, will try it out on the Xonar sometime, cheers!
