New ati 6870 faulty? display turns off randomly

Hi there,

I bought a new XFX 6870 and sometimes the display turns off and goes black when I am gaming but pc still on. This is without overclocking and PSU is 700W so that is not the problem. I am running vista ultimate, latest ati drivers and 2 displays.

I just checked PSU connections and all are good

any advice?

Nobody answers so I guess this is an unusual problem! time to RMA? It is just 1 week old today

Im having the same problem. Looked all over the net but couldnt find anything. Only solution was to swap mine for my dads (he doesnt game so no loss for him)

interesting, it could be driver related? your dads is the same card? I just played 30 min BF3 and monitoring GPU usage in my second monitor I could see clearly there is a problem as it was up and down all the time and never at 100% as I would expect

Im not sure what it is. Mine Is a HIS 6870 and the temps never go above 60c so I know its not heat related. His has stock cooler on and does about 80c. I might see if I can RMA mine
but tbh the only diffrence I have noticed between the 2 is that my one was a little more quiet
