New Babylon 5 movie

I'd long since given up on anything old B5, especially with so many of the old cast gone, I think Peter Jurasik and Bill Mumy are the only original "aliens" left out of the main group.:(

I sort of hold out some hope that if this does well it will lead to more animated B5 OG, but might also result in a blu-ray release even if it's just better than the DVD's (I would kill to get a remaster with new/vfx but that's never going to happen).
Even just an SD BD set with a good transfer would be an instant buy, but even though that would be cheaper/smaller disc count than a new DVD release it's unlikely for a couple of reasons (including the fact that none of the main studios have done an SD BD AFAIK, despite the fact you can easily fit a full season on 1-2 discs).

B5 had a sorta hd release on itunes i think. Bit better res and touched up the cgi shots.

From what I remember, WB had a studio fire and they lost all the master copies of the original episodes, anything they do would need to be entirely from the ground up :(
I'm not sure if that's true for this specific case, IIRC one of the issues with most of the versions that were available for a long time was they weren't based even on broadcast masters (of which the likes of individual TV channels would get a copy), but IIRC the US DVD's and all streaming versions were for a while based on the UK DVD release (US broadcast converted to UK broadcast, then DVD), then converted back to NTSC. I know the big reason for no HD version for years was always said to be that it turned out the original video effect/cgi was done at SD apparently partly because the company doing the work didn't have a HD monitor*, and largely internal disputes at WB as the execs that approved the series did so for a failed joint venture and then wanted to forget about that.

Basically for ~20 years the UK DVD's were the best you could get because they'd only undergone one standard conversion and then the DVD process, just taking a US broadcast master and digitising it would have been better as that would have meant no intervening conversions and a better than DVD starting point and that might be what happened for Apple.

*IIRC they also didn't allow for the fact that computer monitors and TV's used slightly different shaped dot pitchs, so all the effects are slightly the wrong ratio, something that I seem to remember only became really apparent when original computer stills were used to help design some of the Star Fury model kits and people realised they were "wrong".

They did actually lose all of the scenes filmed in 16.9 with blue screen backgrounds, it could be done but way above the price for a usual remastered work. I don't think they could do hd for the Amigavmachines they hwere using or render them at 16.9. Strazyski did the live filming in 16.9 though, but if you watch the actors still stood really close as it would mostly be shown in the usual 4.3 screen back in the 90s. Also I think he said they physically couldn't store all that CGI at the time. Like, on cut transfer and it wasn't saved.

Yeah that's the HBO remaster (to the best of what is available, though there are some issues with it) and is also available to buy on Amazon Prime Video in HD. It's often at £5/session which is a much better deal than the standard price.
