new bed ( memory foam question)

We have a pocket sprung mattress / divan with this mattress topper on top and it's absolutely heavenly. That said, I would really like a super kingsize bed (ours is now getting on for 12 years old and when you remove the topper you can see where the mattress sags a bit!). Haven't quite got my head around what to go for yet and may start a thread at some stage! Would like to go for the same again but they don't seem to exist anymore and the mattresses and divan bases seem to have grown in height over the past 12 years. All the mattresses seem to be 30cm deep, not 20cm and the bases have grown too. Although this may make them extremely comfortable I believe our room may appear to shrink somewhat once we put in a new superking, extra tall bed in the centre of it!!!

You won't need an electric blanket with memory foam. The foam kinda wraps round you slightly which keeps you warmer.

I don't think my memory matress is working. It forgets to bury the wife each night!

I bought one from here a couple of weeks ago:

http://www.memory-mattress.co.uk/index.php?webpage=New_Generation_Mattresses

£360 for a double if you use the 20% off voucher. Go to the 'clearance' section and you can get memory foam pillows on BOGOF as well - RRP £90 each, but half price so you get 2 for £45!

Since using it I've been struggling to wake up in the mornings it's so comfortable, and it doesn't seem to suffer from any of the problems people are stating here; it's no hotter than my old mattress, and doesn't leave an indentation for more than a few seconds but is soft and pliable. I'm guessing a lot of people are using mattresses that are 100% dense foam whereas these have a 2cm layer of softer foam around the core.

They state in the FAQ that electric blankets can destroy memory cells over time though.

Also, I do not work for this company. :D

Memory foam = too warm = bad sleep = all aboard the fail-bed !

We almost got one, did some reading... a lot of people were complaining they were not comfortable or got very hot.

careful trying them in the shop as you are not on it for long so will not notice if it makes you hot..

we ended up getting a £1k normal matress... very nice though

Pocket sprung matress with millions of individuals springs, nice and firm beats memory foam hands down IMHO.

And then of course, theres no bounce :(

I rely on that 'bounce' to keep my momentum!

I have a memory foam pillow, but tbh it ends up on the floor as I find it uncomfortable.
